It’s here. The craziness of wrapping up the school year and getting ready for summer. For my family, this past weekend was a Maycember weekend. For starters, we (not really all of us) lost our neighbor’s cat that we were feeding. We don’t have cats of our own and everyone told me more than likely the cat would return(it did) but, WE LOST OUR NEIGHBOR’S PET. And, the boys in the family were heading out of town for a baseball tournament and the girls in the family were setting up for our Confirmation luncheon the next day. My family was coming in town and I had not done ONE THING to prepare. Then, once the cat was found, I wanted to lock him in his home, and we had “misplaced” the key. We found the key too. So, this is what I’m talking about- pure craziness.
The Confirmation luncheon was really perfect. The weather was incredible and it was nice for all of our families to enjoy each other after such a special occasion. Unfortunately, my camera was not charged- so I charged it for an hour. Great- enough juice to take a few shots. I ran around documenting and was feeling pretty great about myself until my daughter wanted to see one of the pictures and we looked at the screen to realize- NO CARD. Seriously- what a joke. Of course, my friend had her camera and we hurried around and took a few pictures. The tables were set up inside and outside with white cloths and hot pink paper as toppers. We used turquoise vases and gerber daises and some stuff from our yards. Really- it was so simple and it was so easy and very kid like. These are the only pictures of the table I ended up having.
I really hate to waste any flowers. So, I was so happy to get to re-purpose these for a very special reception at our school the next day! I gave each flower a fresh cut and soaked them overnight. I was not sure what container I was going to use so really did not have a plan. I saw this one in the garage and decided it would be perfect. I had used this one a few months ago at a friend’s house- if you want to read about it here. I loved it so much that I got one( a chicken feeder) for myself from Fine Things(Jacob Bright- 256- 586-5685.) I love how different it looks with different flowers. I added some spray roses from Publix ( 3 for $12) as well as solomon seal, fern, hosta ,and pachysandra from my yard.
Hope Maycember treats you well and you can find some time to relax and enjoy the beautiful weather!

I love the casual beauty of these arrangements. They actually look like something I might could do myself (even though I know it wouldn’t turn out quite as gorgeous).
